I used to dream of writing a novel in a weekend or crushing 1,500 words a day for NaNoWriMo. Each attempt ended in failure. But when I shifted my focus to writing small, consistent pieces, the transformation began. Just a few lines of poetry, a thought, or 500 words became enough. The key wasn’t volume; it was momentum.
Part of those small steps was making space for writing in my daily life—carrying a notebook, a pen, or even opening the notes app on my phone. Jotting down a fleeting thought, a line of poetry, or anxieties weighing on me helped transfer energy to the page. Those moments weren’t always perfect, but they mattered. They allowed me to move forward, one small step at a time.
These small acts of writing reconnected me with myself, altering my perspective and reshaping my life.
