A State of Healing Is Almost Here
There are stories we carry alone until someone else gives them words.
A State of Healing gathers more than 50 Wisconsin voices in one powerful anthology of poetry, prose, art, and personal truth.
Through its six movements—Separation, Impact, Fracture, Clarity, Repair, and Integration—the book follows the shape of healing: what breaks us open, what helps us see clearly, and what slowly teaches us how to return to ourselves and one another.
Join us for the official release event Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 6–8 PM under the dome of the Oshkosh Public Library.
Come for the book. Stay for the voices. Leave reminded that healing was never meant to be walked alone.
We heal stronger, together.
Join Us Under the Dome
Join us for an evening of readings, reflection, community, and celebration as A State of Healing is released into the world.
Contributors will share selected pieces from the anthology, guests will have time to connect, and copies of the book will be available during the event.
This gathering is open to readers, writers, families, friends, and anyone who believes in the power of words to help us heal, remember, and come together.

What’s Taking Shape
Updates
There is a lot moving behind the scenes at Homemade Author.
The second issue of Homemade Author Magazine is now taking shape, and new submissions will soon be welcomed for future features, reflections, poetry, prose, and creative work.
I have also been recording a new podcast conversation with Oshkosh Poet Laureate Thomas Cannon, exploring poetry, meaning, and the moments where a poem shifts, opens, or turns. You can learn more about Tom’s work at thomascannonauthor.com.
And as A State of Healing moves toward release, I am looking forward to returning to the passion of Above and Within.
More is coming. Stay close.
Stay close to the work.

Homemade Author Magazine
Homemade Author Updates
Homemade Author Magazine is expected to release in late September 2026. The first issue will feature poet Katrina Serwe, along with essays, poetry, writing lessons, reflections on healing, and much more. Check back for updates as this second issue and new creative space takes root.
Homemade Author Podcast
The Homemade Author Podcast: As the Poem Turns is currently in production with G. Anthony and Thomas Cannon, Oshkosh Poet Laureate. Together, they venture into the heart of a poem in search of the turn — that moment where pain, truth, memory, or meaning begins to shift. Two poets. One poem. A deeper look at what words can reveal. Updates will be shared as new episodes become available.
Above and Within
Above and Within is currently targeted for publication in January 2027. As G. Anthony’s second solo book, this project holds a deeply personal place in the Homemade Author journey. It reaches into the wonder of the universe, the mystery of being alive, and the quiet connections between what is above us and what lives within us. More updates will be shared as the book moves closer to release.
A State of Healing
A State of Healing will be released with a special gathering on Saturday, August 29, from 6–8 PM under the Dome at the Oshkosh Public Library. Contributors will read from their pieces, copies will be available for purchase, and the evening will celebrate the voices that helped bring this anthology to life. Check back soon for more details.
