The Homemade Author

Before you read my words, I want you to know that I’m here, listening. Your story matters, and even when the weight of life feels insurmountable, you are not alone. I know this because I’ve been there, and in many ways, I’m still there, actively healing alongside you.

This journey of healing is work—grueling, slow, and often disguised as progress that doesn’t seem to move. But it does. We grow stronger in ways that can’t always be seen in the moment, and the biggest challenge is to keep believing that.

Nature has become my refuge, my teacher. When the chaos in my mind is loudest, I find solace deep in the forest, where the world slows down and the quiet of a hidden stream reminds me that peace is within reach. It’s in these moments that I create space within myself to replace anxiety with calm and uncover the strength buried under layers of thought.

Through my writing, I aim to connect with you, to share a journey that acknowledges the darkness but seeks out the light within it. Healing isn’t a straight path, and neither are we bound by the struggles we endure. We are complex, beautiful beings—pieces scattered but slowly coming together. This adventure is about discovering who we truly are, finding the light in our darkest moments, and embracing the contrast that makes our stories worth telling.

I am 51 years old and have been passionate about writing since the age of 18. Despite a lifelong love of storytelling, I lived a silent writing career for decades, held back by self-esteem and insecurities. Only recently have I found the strength to share my soul through the written word, believing others can find light even in the most challenging struggles reflected in my work. I like to think of myself as an unpolished gem, with writing that holds value for those willing to relate and remain open to hope.

When I’m not writing, I immerse myself in the family experience, enjoying every moment with my loved ones. Drawn to the beauty of northern Wisconsin since childhood visits to Manitowish Waters with my grandparents, I find peace hiking, camping, and journaling along the area’s wondrous trails. Summers are spent golfing with my wife and toddler son, and in winter, I cherish the simple joy of walking snow-blanketed paths, savoring the crunch of fresh snow underfoot.
