Featured Poet– Chris Kujawa
Chris Kujawa’s work moves between the cosmic and the intimate, pairing large-scale imagery with the small, quiet textures of being human. His poems explore vulnerability, yearning, tenderness, and the machinery of survival—often through celestial bodies, natural forces, and everyday objects brought into new emotional focus. The voice is curious and unguarded, willing to admit awe as much as ache, and to place the reader inside the ongoing work of becoming. For those who crave poetry that feels both imaginative and deeply sincere, Celestial Overgrowth offers a window into a mind that treats feeling as a form of inquiry and connection.
Homemade Connection
I met Chris for the first time at the 2025 Lakefly Writers Conference. I had just finished an open-mic reading when the cover of his book caught my eye. His author table sat a short distance from the podium, and I found myself drawn in. I picked up Celestial Overgrowth, opened to a random page, read a few lines, and knew I wanted to spend time with the world he’d built.
Chris and I stayed in touch, and it didn’t take long to realize his work would be a perfect match for the celestial theme of the first issue of Homemade Author Magazine. Bringing us to today—his words and presence helped shape this featured spot into exactly what I’d hoped it could be.
In hindsight, I wish we had set up an interview, especially with his next collection on the horizon: The Breadth of All Colour (2026). Check back for updates on the new release. In the meantime, reach out to Chris and pick up a copy of Celestial Overgrowth.
